Scope: LN Consulting completed the MEP design and construction administration for a new boutique hotel in New Haven, CT. The project consisted of a nine-story existing structure consisting of approximately 110,000 sq. ft. The proposed program includes a 165 room hotel, restaurant, gallery, laundry, and meeting space. The project was designed for LEED Platinum certification and 60% more energy-efficient than code requirements. Solar power generated from rooftop and parking canopy arrays to provide 100% of electricity for lighting, heating, and cooling; and electric car charging stations.
The building mechanical consists of an energy recovery ventilation system, high-efficiency VRF air-source heat pumps, an all-electric kitchen, power over ethernet lighting, and a battery emergency power system that provides building backup power for emergency functions as well as the building fire pump. The building is slated to be the first Passive House certified Hotel in the United States. All lighting to be low-voltage power-over-ethernet (POE) LED technology.
