Scope: LN Consulting completed the mechanical. electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design for a 27,000 sq. ft. surgical center. The project consisted of a 20,000 sq. ft. addition and a 7,000 sq. ft. renovation. The new addition included (3) operating rooms, (1) a procedure room, a central sterile processing area, and (1) pre/post-operative beds as well as an educational seminar space.
The renovation also included upgrades to the infusion/oncology suite and existing operating room space. The space was provided with (2) central air handling units. (1) air handling unit was dedicated to the surgical suite and (1) the air handling unit was dedicated to the rest of the facility. An interconnection was provided between the units in order to provide additional redundancy to the operating rooms in the event of an equipment failure.
The project included all new power, lighting, plumbing, medical gas, and mechanical systems to support the proposed program space. This included a new emergency generator with tired priority transfer switches as well as a new domestic water booster system to meet all of the necessary pressure and flow requirements of the sterilizers and humidifiers.
